Senso-ji Temple
Sensoji Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa and Taito District, Tokyo, Japan. This temple is the largest, most important and oldest temple in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. This temple, which was built in 628 AD, is the result of two fisherman brothers. According to stories and legends, Kannon, the God of Mercy, was found in the Sumida River by two fisherman brothers. The elder of that village turned his house into a temple so that people could worship this statue there. This stone, which turned the temple into one of the most visited and popular buildings in Tokyo today, is now the place to hold “Sanja Matsuri”, which is the biggest and most famous festival in Tokyo. This festival is held every year in late spring and lasts for 3-4 days.

Nakamis Street – Dori
Nakamis-Dori is a street in front of the temple, which was established in the early 18th century, when permission was given to open a shop in front of the temple. However, the Tokyo government ordered shopkeepers to leave their shops in May 1885. In December of the same year, this area was rebuilt with western style bricks. During the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, many of the shops on this street were destroyed and rebuilt in 1925. These shops were again destroyed and rebuilt during the bombings of World War II. The length of the street is 250 meters, which now contains 89 shops.
