Travel information

Japan tour
Japan is an archipelagic country, or a string of islands, at the tip of East Asia. This country consists of four islands: Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. There are almost four thousand other big and small islands beside these islands. Japan’s closest neighbors are the Siberian region, Russia, from the north, and Korea and China from the south.
About four-fifths of this country is covered by mountains. Japan’s mountain range starts from the center of the largest island, Henshu. The highest elevation is Mount Fuji, a funnel-shaped volcano that is considered sacred to many Japanese people. Three tectonic plates forming the earth’s crust meet near this country and because they often move against each other, it causes earthquakes. More than a thousand earthquakes occur in Japan every year. There are also two hundred volcanoes, sixty of which are considered active, in Japan.

Japanese culture and people
The Japanese are known for their willingness to work hard. Children are taught to respect their elders, especially their parents and bosses. They learn to do what is best for their family and company and think less about their own needs.
Japanese food is very different from food prepared in Western countries. In their meal, there is a lot of rice, fish and vegetables along with less meat. This diet, with little fat or dairy, is considered very healthy and helps Japanese people live longer on average than other people.

Japanesenature
Japanese people are very interested in the beauty of nature. According to Shinto, natural features such as mountains, waterfalls and forests have their own special spirits. Most of this land is decorated with rural areas. But the density of hundreds of millions in such a small place has had a negative impact on wildlife.
Although pollution is strictly controlled, road construction and other human activities have damaged natural habitats. About 136 species of animals in Japan are classified as endangered species.
The warm currents of Tsushima from the south join the colder current from the north in the Sea of Japan. The combination of these two currents has enriched the waters near Japan with fish and other marine life.

Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in Japan
For centuries, cherry blossoms (sakura) have been celebrated in Japan and have found a special place in the culture of this country. Although there are many varieties of cherry in Japan, most of them only bloom for a few days in the spring. Japanese people celebrate this time of year with Hanami (cherry blossom viewing). In this Japanese ceremony, friends, family members or colleagues gather together, sit on plastic mats under blossoming trees, drink, sing, talk warmly or enjoy the view.

Japanese government and economy
Japan is the only country in the world that still has an imperial monarchy. Emperors have ceremonial power, but they are still symbols of the country’s traditions and unity. World War II brought the country’s economy to its knees. But the hard work and smart innovation of the people of this land turned the page and turned Japan into the second largest economy in the world. Japan’s advanced industry leads the way in manufacturing some of the most common electronic products in the world.

The history of Japan
For the first time, 30,000 years ago, humans set foot on this land. At that time, the main islands were connected to Siberia and the Korean peninsula, and people came to this land on foot. The first society, known as the Jomon culture, emerged about 12,000 years ago. In the same period, the Ainu people arrived from Siberia by boat.
The Jomon culture and the Ainu people were able to survive in this land for thousands of years, hunting, fishing and gathering plants. In 300 B.C., the Yauni people set foot on Honshu Island from Korea and China. These people were skilled weavers, tool makers, and farmers who began to grow rice in flooded paddy fields.
In 660 BC, Jinmu Tenno, the first emperor of Japan, came to power. Emperors ruled Japan until the twelfth century, when military generals, known as shoguns, took over and ruled with power.
Europeans first set foot in this country in 1543 and brought guns and Christianity. In 1635, the ruling shogun closed Japan’s borders to foreigners and prevented its own people from traveling. This isolation continued for nearly two hundred years. In 1868, the shoguns were overthrown and the emperors regained their position. This period witnessed great changes and modernization of Japan.
During World War I (1914-1917), Japan fought side by side with America. But on December 7, 1941, Japan bombed the US Navy in Pearl Harbor and entered the Second World War. From 1941-1945, the country’s military leaders fought against the United States and the Allied forces. In August 1945, America attacked Hiroshima and Nagasaki with atomic bombs and 115,000 people died as a result of this attack. A few days after this incident, Japan surrendered
